Our Story
About SoBanks Speed Shop
An independent shop built around a genuine love of cars — and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Built different. On purpose.
SoBanks Speed Shop was built on a simple idea: that there's a better way to run an automotive shop. One where the diagnosis is accurate, the communication is honest, and the work is done the way you'd want it done on your own vehicle.
We're based in Beaufort, NC — right in the heart of the Crystal Coast — and we serve car owners and enthusiasts across Carteret County and the surrounding area. We work by appointment, which means every vehicle that comes through our door gets dedicated time and focused attention.
We're not a chain. We're not a volume shop. We're a small, enthusiast-owned operation that takes pride in every job — whether it's a routine oil change or a full performance build.
How We Work
Our approach to every vehicle.
Diagnose first.
We don't guess. We use professional diagnostic equipment and take the time to understand what's actually happening before recommending any repair.
Communicate clearly.
We explain what we found, what it means for your vehicle, and what your options are — in plain language, before we do anything.
Recommend honestly.
We tell you what your vehicle actually needs. If something can wait, we'll tell you. If something is urgent, we'll tell you that too.
Work with care.
Every vehicle that leaves our shop reflects our work. We take that seriously — whether it's a $500 repair or a $5,000 build.
